What were your reactions to the book and why?

What are the book’s main themes?  What message is the author trying to get across?

Does the book tackle any contemporary or universal issues such as racism, war or the environment and, if so, how did it change or clarify your views?

Who are the main characters? How much do they change over the course of the book and why?

Did particular characters engage your sympathey?  Were there others that you couldnt stand? What are your reasons?

Did the book have any relevance to your own experience and, if so, in what ways?

Are aspects of the author’s life reflected in the book, and if so , what are they?

Did the book remind you of anything else you have read?

How important is the authors use of language?  Were there particular passages that caught your imagination and if so why?

Was there anything unusual about the structure of the book and if so was it effective?  Perhaps the book was in letter form or composed of flashbacks?

If you nominated the book, have your feelings about it been changed by exhanging views with others?
